In our ever changing world, we need to be more concious of our use of natural resources. Water conservation is no exception. For years we have had regulations and limitation to help preserve as much water as possible for use in our cities across the U.S. You may have a curfew in your town on when you are allowed to water your lawn. Most towns use common regulations like "Odd number homes can water on Tuesday and Thursday. Even number homes can water on Monday and Wednesday." Companies in the faucet manufacturing business have begun to improve their products with new technologies and techniques when designing their new lines of faucets.
Water conservation will become increasingly important in the near future. The EPA has stated "At least 36 states are anticipating local, regional or statewide water shortages by 2013, even under non-drought conditions." That is why many faucet companies like Delta Faucet has started what they call their Green Campaign. They working to reduce the amount of water we use by building smart water delivery systems that release a consistent gallons per minute of water. Many of their facuets use 20% less water and still perform as well as other faucet companies.
Another technology advertised by Delta is their Touch 2O Technology. This technology is being used on their new kitchen faucets to allow easy on/off switching while working in the kitchen. The water will stop flowing simply by touch your skin to the metal surface of the faucet. This technology can also contribute in the effort to conserve water in the sense that people will be more likely to turn off their kitchen faucets if it can be done just with a touch of their wrist perhaps.
While Delta is obviously leading the pack in innovation of the faucet industry other companies are building better faucet technologies. Moen has come up with there ioDigital technology for creating customizable experiences for taking a shower or bath. Once you have the desired temperature settings and rate of water flow, simply press one of the preset buttons to save those settings as easy as setting a radio station on your stereo system.
So while many manufacturing companies in the faucet industry are trying to do their part to help with water conservation, people around the world should try and do their part as well. The next time you brush your teeth, try turning off the water while you are brushing your teeth. Try putting a brick in the bottom of your toliets water to decrease the amount of water you use every time you flush.
